We took our annual Christmas vacation last week. I guess its annual now that we were discussing where we were going next year on Christmas night. This years destination was middle Texas. Husband wanted seafood and beach. I wanted BBQ and the kid is along for the trip.
We flew in Saturday afternoon to Austin. I had two night reserved in Austin starting Sunday that could not be adjusted since they were booked in April under the second night free policy. I really needed a place to sleep and did not want to use many points for it.
I used the hotel reward mapper site and found a Residence Inn in Round Rock that is only 15,000 points a night for a one bedroom. A little leg work on Tripadvisor showed me there was enough to do in the area for 24 hours before moving onto Austin.
Our hotel was easy to find just off the highway. It was really a quick drive from the airport! Front desk clerk was very friendly and we were off to our room in no time!
I will admit we have never used the kitchen yet but it is nice to have if you want to use it! We do like the fridge space.
And Daughter loves having her own tv and couch are for sleeping. Really this configuration works well for us and we have stayed at several Residence Inns because of it.
The front desk clerk told us we could purchase snacks and items just around the corner at the Walmart. We ran into a Texas Santa Claus there that made us all smile. Nice to have a touch of the holiday.
The next morning we checked out and made our way past the outlets to Inner Space Caverns. And we stopped at the blue hole in Georgetown. There is plenty to do in the Round Rock area!

The rate on the one bedroom hotel rooms is running $99.95 for the weekends which I think is a good value for the space you have! Or 15,000 points if you are point heavy like we were!
