We arrived late evening in New Orleans and we were hungry. I had read several places that Acme and Felix’s were the place for oysters. I had also read that Acme usually had a line down the street. Since it was late Friday night we avoided the long Acme line down to the corner and had a short wait at Felix’s.
We were seated in the room on the far side and quickly given our drinks. I tried a Mississippi Honeybee and I could have sat and sipped those all weekend. Yummy!
Husband started out with a dozen raw and then added fried gator to make a meal.
The oysters are HUGE!
Daughter went with half a dozen raw and half char-grilled.
I mean while went really crazy and ordered the Roast Beef Po-Boy. I am not a seafood person by any stretch of the imagination.
First Po-Boy and it was good. Not unlike a hot beef sandwich we have in our state but we do not put on the fixings.
Our families verdict was that Felix’s was awesome. Daughter loved the char-grilled better than raw oysters and everyone was happy to have seafood on their first night.
Felix’s is located at 739 Iberville Street. They are open Sunday through Thursday 11-10 and Friday/ Saturday 11-11. More information here: http://www.felixs.com/index.html
