Disney’s Wonderland Tea Party for Kids

When my daughter was a bit smaller we signed her up for the Wonderland Tea Party at the Grand Floridan.  This allowed my husband and a I a little time to walk around the resort just the two of us and it gave her a chance to hang with other kids.

From Disney’s site:

Wonderland Tea Party

Disney Characters from Wonderland invite kids 4 to 12 years of age for an hour of games, stories and cupcakes.

To sip on, kids are given a special “tea” that tastes remarkably like apple juice. The pint-sized party goers also get to decorate cupcakes with sprinkles and more, make a craft to take home with them and have their photos taken with their very merry hosts.

IF your child is more outgoing sit them towards the end of the table. The characters host from either end.  A quieter child might be more comfortable in the middle seats surrounded by other kids.

Daughter had the best time ever!  She decorated her cupcake, heard jokes from the Mad Hatter and took a photo with them.  When the parents came to get their kids they were fast asleep at the table.

They surprised us when they woke up from their “nap”.  It was really cute!

We enjoyed the hour of down time to get a drink at the pool area and walk around the resort.  It was a great afternoon break for all of us. Daughter liked it so much she did the tea party again on another trip while my mother in law and I had adult tea.

Call (407)WDW-DINE to book this and it is limited to 25 children.  The cost is $40 per child.

When Dad Stays Home

There have been more time recently that Husband has elected not to travel with us.  Work schedules, different interests or family obligations have found Daughter and I without him.  Smartphones allow him to instantly see a picture of her in front of the White House before we even walk away.  Back when technology was not as fingertip we took “flat Daddy” on vacation with us when Dad couldn’t travel.

Oh the things Flat Dad has done!  He has ridden his favorite ride, been in family pictures and enjoyed meals on vacation.  Its a fun way for Daughter to still connect with Dad and tell him nightly all the fun things Flat Dad did during the day without him.

La Nouba Disney Dining Deal

Enjoy a magical evening out with dinner and a performance of La Nouba! For a limited time, you can purchase the special Dinner & A Show package, which includes a meal at a popular restaurant in Downtown Disney area—plus a ticket to La Nouba by Cirque du Soleil®.
Explore ticket prices per person:

  • $99 plus tax for a Category 2 ticket ($89 plus tax for children ages 3 to 9)
  • $119 plus tax for a Category 1 ticket ($109 plus tax for children ages 3 to 9)

The package includes 1 ticket to a 6:00 PM performance Tuesday through Saturday nights on the following dates:

  • September 30 through November 1, 2014
  • November 6 through November 22, 2014

Before or after the show, enjoy dinner at Wolfgang Puck Grand CafePlanet Hollywood or Splitsville Luxury Lanes. The offer includes one entrée, dessert and a non-alcoholic beverage.

We have seen La Nouba twice at Disney.  Each time was an incredible experience.  I would recommend category two tickets.  We have done category 1 and 2 but enjoyed category 2 better.  A large section of the show is up in the air,  the view in category 2 is better for this part.  There is not a bad seat in the house!

Regular priced category two tickets for the 6pm Saturday show were $78 for an adult plus tax. The Disney dinner package is $21 more for an entree, dessert and NA drink.

For example Planet Hollywood a burger is $14, Key Lime pie is $7 and a Coke is $3.25. $24.25 total for dinner so a little savings with the package.  For Wolfgang Puck Grand Cafe it is $15 for the hearty mac-n-cheese, $9 for a brownie sundae and $2 for a soft drink.  $26 for your meal saving $5 with the package.  These are the lower end entrees, other choices will result in larger savings.

The fine print:

  • This package is valid for shows Tuesday through Saturday September 30, 2014 through November 22, 2014 and includes one Category 1 or Category 2 seat to La Nouba’s 6:00 PM performance and a meal at a participating restaurant.
  • Meal includes an entrée, a dessert and a non-alcoholic beverage.
  • Meal coupon must be redeemed on the same day of performance and must be presented to the restaurant upon seating.
  • The cost of gratuity is not included.
  • Tickets and seating are subject to availability.
  • Advance purchase is recommended.
  • Tickets can be purchased up to 30 days in advance of show date and will be available for pickup at the La Nouba Box Office Will Call window.
  • Not valid for previously purchased tickets, gift certificates or with any other discount.
  • La Nouba does not have shows on Tuesday, November 4, 2014 or Wednesday, November 5, 2014.

Magic Kingdom Pirates Leauge: Turn your Child into a Pirate!

We surprised Daughter with a visit to the Pirates League in the Magic Kingdom.  Its located right next to the Pirates of the Caribbean ride.  This was much more of an experience than the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique was.  This also took much longer! The makeup for the pirate is much bolder than the Boutique if that is a concern.

You check in and record where you are from.

Next you are given a new pirate name. My child was now Rachael Gunsco!

Then at your muster station your makeover begins.

We went with the “Empress” package:

The First Mate and Empress Packages (starting at $34.95 plus tax):

  • Your choice of facial effect: Cursed Pirate, Captain Hook, Captain Jack, Blackeyed Jack or shimmering makeup*
  • Reversible bandana
  • Earring and eye patch
  • Sword and sheath
  • The Pirate League bag
  • Temporary tattoo
  • Unique pirate coin necklace
  • Personalized pirate oath
  • Official pirate name
  • Participation in a daily Adventureland Pirate Parade

*The Empress Package also includes vibrant makeup, lip gloss, nail polish and face gem.

Our makeover lady was excellent. She chatted with Daughter the whole time and you could tell Daughter loved being made over!

You are even given the eye patch in a girly pink!

You take the pirated oath!

And get some pirate treasure.

And you need to know how to use your sword for a sword fight. So you practice!

I would say Rachael Gunsco looks good, for a pirate!

Reservations for The Pirates League can be made up to 180 days in advance and are highly recommended. For booking, please call (407) WDW-STYLE or (407) 939-7895.

Also you need to bring your own hairbrush to the event!

Magic Kingdom Tomorrowland Terrace Fireworks Dessert Party

We were fortunate enough to secure tickets to the Tomorrowland Terrace Fireworks Dessert Party in the Magic Kingdom.  Like many special ticket items it took me several phone calls to secure an opening!

You arrive at the appointed time at the Tomorrowland Terrace in Tomorrowland.  This is a great location that otherwise is not often used by Disney so it makes sense to make a special event here.

There is a great view of the castle from the location!

You check in and are told where to find your assigned table. It had a cute little name tag on it! Once seated you are told to visit the buffet and wait for the fireworks. There is also a photopass photographer on hand to take pictures in front of the castle for you.

We had no problem finding desserts we enjoyed!

We were able to see Tinkerbell fly overhead.

And “Wishes” fireworks were beautiful!

The Tomorrowland Terrace Fireworks Dessert Party is $21.99 for adults and $11.99 for children 3 – 9 years old. To book call call (407) WDW-DINE or try online dining reservations.

Fun Dinner at Chef Mickey’s

We had dinner one evening at Chef Mickey’s in the Contemporary hotel.  We walked over from the Magic Kingdom and it was a short 10 minute walk.

The best thing about Disney character meals is that the characters come to your table as you eat. No waiting in line!!!!!!
