I have been a subscriber since day one of the Fair Trade Friday monthly box. I love getting mail that is not all bills but also contains items that make our world a better place. Beyond the monthly box Fair Trade Friday also offers a bracelet of the month club and an earring of the month club.
In February I also purchased the earring of the month for February. I wanted to see what they offered and I was not disappointed!
I think I need to purchase a larger mailbox. Took me a little wiggling to get my Fair Trade Friday package out of my box.
This package felt very solid so I was curious what items I had this month.
Yesterday the mail box held good things. Lately its been full of college information, bills and magazines. This time there was only one college brochure, one magazine and my Fair Trade Friday package.
My first item is a taco cord keeper. This will be so handy when I travel! Between chargers and headphones I usually have some sort of mess brewing in my bag.
Time again for my favorite Friday of the month!
This was my package that came in the mail Thursday.
I have been out of town but lucky for me right before I left my Fair Trade Friday package arrived!
2nd Anniversary, how can it be two years already?
I will tell you that May flew by and I did not even realize it was almost June until my Fair Trade Friday package was in the mailbox on Tuesday! Where does the time go?
This is what I pulled out of my white mailer this month. What is it?
A perfect carry all bag for the beach this summer or the farmers market. I love the vibrant colors and large size! A great sunglasses case that will be handy with my new sunglasses I finally purchased myself. And a green paper bracelet set from Mercy House that I loved so much I wore it the next day.
June’s box provided five jobs. More about Fair Trade Friday here: http://fairtradefriday.club/
Also they included a discount code for the Fair Trade Friday earring of the month club if you want to give them a try.
If you read my blog from time to time you know I am a huge fan of Fair Trade Friday! Fair Trade Friday exists to give women a hand up and not a hand out in this world. Fair Trade Friday grew out of Mercy House in Kenya. Mercy House exists to give young pregnant mothers a home, education and hope. We all need hope and help from time to time!
Today I am telling you about their “She is Priceless” campaign by saying #PutOnYourPearls to support women around the world.
Its another Fair Trade Friday! I have been involved with Fair Trade Friday since August 2014 when it began. I love how it supports women in disadvantaged countries with a fair wage!
If you follow me you know this is mostly a travel blog. I am doing my small part to save you some money and help you see what is important to you. Whether its family at Christmas, hitting beaches during Spring Break or doing college visits with your teen I am trying to help keep the costs down.
But sometimes I branch off in a different direction as you can see with my Fair Trade Friday posts. I had the privilege of hearing Kristen Welch speak a few years back on the other side of my state. It was a nasty snowy morning and I was glad my Mom had agreed to travel with me to hear her the night before. We did stay at the local Holiday Inn on points and used a coupon for cheap pizza the night before so this is kinda of a travel post.
At the time Kristen had started Mercy House, that lead to Fair Trade Friday and now her newest project a book on raising Grateful Kids. I have followed her blog for a very long time because I could relate my Daughter to hers. I felt like maybe we are not messing up this parenting thing as bad as it seems we are. It was helpful and gave me hope that we were normal!
And it seems as I read her latest book that we are very normal indeed. My Daughter is a great kid at 15 and we try to keep things in perspective for her. Not everyone is an only child, and not everyone is an only Grandchild. I always thought well if she does not act spoiled we are doing alright. But maybe alright is not enough.
I can see already reading the first two chapters that I am entitled sometimes! I need to be thankful for what I have more than I am. I like how Kristen has suggestions for parents, toddlers and on up to teens. Here is an example “Parents : Ask God for strength and determination to heed the warning given to us in Scripture to not give our kids everything they want.” In the holiday season this is hard for me. I see deals on things she might like and I think its only $5 tossing it under the tree with the other items.
Its a work in progress to shift from our culture of latest and greatest to being content with enough. I am looking forward to reading more of Kristen’s book Raising Grateful Kids in an Entitled World. They have provided me with an e-copy to read and I am enjoying it even when it makes me squirm a little!

Can you believe it has been a year since the first Fair Trade Friday box? Neither can I! They recently wrote on their Facebook page “A year ago we started with 82 members, which seemed overwhelming as we packed the boxes. This month, we mailed out packages to more than 850 members. Happy birthday to us!”
Crazy!!!!! And amazing! I love getting new items each month. I love it that they have a waiting list so others are joining in. And I love that we are helping other women and families!
