I am a big fan of Free Tours by Foot. We have used them in Philly, Savannah and previously in Charleston. The process is simple, find the tour / date on the calendar and book it online. There is a $1 fee to book per person to cover the Charleston tour tax. The tour guide tells you where to meet and what time. Easy peasy! Please book well in advance, they are allowed 20 people on the tour and even on a hot Monday in August our tour was full!

I enjoyed walking around the Charleston Historic District looking at all the iron work. The fencing and the gates were amazing!
I had seen pictures of the Sheldon Church Ruins on Tripadvisor while researching our anniversary trip. I wanted to stop by and check out the ruins if we could, luckily they were less than ten minutes out of our way on the drive to Savannah.
There is a large sign on the corner of US 17 and Old Sheldon Church Road indicating the historical site. And another large sign in front of the church, parking is to the left side of the road.
