The station in South Haven is a great Mexican restaurant and has a very extensive beer/ drink list. We stopped in on a weekday night for dinner on our way through town in August. There was ample outdoor seating with large umbrellas to provide shade. The cool nearby lake breeze helped keep us very comfortable.
The husband loves it when he can get a couple of different items for his entree at dinner. He went with the fish tacos, that he said were outstanding and Carnitas. He added a side of street corn to top it all off.
Husband was looking for a short weekend getaway for our anniversary a couple of weeks back. His requirements were good food, hot tub and breakfast. Well that is easy enough!
After the IHG points mail in promotion I was open to adding more IHG points to our account. Their current promo adds 5,000 points if you stay in May so I went on the hunt for an IHG property.
In South Haven there is Holiday Inn Express located just east of town. South Haven has great Lake Michigan beaches and good food. The hotel also offered Jacuzzi tubs in some of the rooms so booking this hotel was a no-brainer!
For several years we have made the trip to South Haven for ice breaker. There was been 50 degree tempatures and white out blizzards. You never know what you will get in February!
There is always some time for skating at the ice rink after the curling demonstrations.
And the various stores sponsor an ice sculpture that is built during the day. We have seen some incredible sculptures over the years!
The Boy Scouts are out in force with heating fires to warm up by. Others are collecting money for warm your heart heating help. If you get there early enough to get a decent parking space it can be very festive as you enjoy before the crowds.
This year they even offered a 5k for fun.

Who doesn’t love a good adventure out on the high seas of Lake Michigan? Daughter went through a pirate phase and I wanted to sail on the tall ship Friends Good Will, why not combine the two?
The Friends Good Will is docked at the Michigan Maritime Museum in South Haven Michigan. There is plenty of parking and it is very easy to find.
Daughter had to prove she is tough enough to sail with this crew.
