I will admit my first thought is to visit Disney the day before a Disney cruise! And you can but we do not do that anymore. Instead we make the drive to Port Canaveral and relax in the area. When its time to board you are right there already!
You have a few hotel choices. We stumbled on a Holiday Inn near Jetty Beach Park. We either stay at the Country Inn and Suites or the Radisson. The Radisson has a better pool area but the Country Inn and Suites has the port view. We have woken up in the morning to see the Disney Dream from our window. That will get you excited!
There is no shortage of activities in the area. We have spent time at Golf N Gator holding gators and mini golfing. Going to Ron Jon Surf Shop in Cocoa Beach and checking out the Cocoa Beach Pier.
So step out from Orlando, head down early and visit Cocoa Beach area.

Just visited Golf N Gator myself! Next time you’re in Port Canaveral, check out Grills Seafood Deck and Tiki Bar! Great food, live music, and right on the port…we were able to watch a cruise ship come and go! Very family friendly as well (:
