Fair Trade Friday Earring of the Month Club for February 2017

I have been a subscriber since day one of the Fair Trade Friday monthly box.  I love getting mail that is not all bills but also contains items that make our world a better place.  Beyond the monthly box Fair Trade Friday also offers a bracelet of the month club and an earring of the month club.

In February I also purchased the earring of the month for February.  I wanted to see what they offered and I was not disappointed!

First was the cute wallet.  I love the colors and the story behind it even more.

From Fair Trade Friday’s Facebook page ” Guerline is 22 years old. She’s a seamstress at Three Cords in Haiti. Her story, her faith, and her work are incredibly inspiring and an amazing example of the Lord;s redemption and restoration. In the earthquake of 2010, Guerline lost her arm when a wall fell upon her. This event was extremely difficult for her, as she was forced to relearn basic tasks such as buttoning her shirt or doing her hair. In addition, amputee victims are often viewed as outcast in Haitian culture, so lacking her arm led to much ridicule from others. In 2015, she was fitted for a prosthetic arm. Guerline was absolutely overjoyed to receive her arm, and it has been amazing seeing her thankfulness, faith, and joy every day. Guerline loves working at Three Cords because she has experienced a lot of hope for working with other women who are able to relate to her situation. she did the hand stitching that embellishes your (more than 1600 for our July box!) wallet using her good arm to stabilize the product and her teeth to pull the stitches through.

Cashing in Birch Box Points

I received an email that some of my Birch Box points were going to expire.  Oh the horror!  I had looked a couple at times at Birch Box items but was not that excited about any one item that I wanted to use my points on.  Ughhh!

They had some suggestions for me and one of them was a Philosophy item.  Hmmm, I do like some of their products.  I did a search that came up with 29 Philosophy items, most of them were for face use.  I needed a new night cream, my samples I had received over the months from Target and Walmart boxes were running low.  So I cashed in 500 points to take $50 off Philosophy Miracle Worker Overnight.  Birch Box sells it for $68.

The Butter Box September

I do read other writers blogs for travel news and lifestyle information.  I stumbled on a review for the Butter Box and it offered a half off code for one box.  Everything looked good and had great reviews so I wanted to give it a try.  Usually scents from the Body Shop or Bath and Body Works give me a killer headache so I avoid those stores like the plague!  I was hoping for items that would not be too perfumed to use.  Fortunately Butter Box delivered!
